Terms of Service
Tarjumi Translation API — operated by CIF AI (Thexi Corp) · Last updated: 2026-05-04
1. Acceptance
By creating an API key or using the Tarjumi API ("Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Service Description
Tarjumi provides machine translation for African and low-resource languages via a REST API. Translation is performed by neural machine translation models. Output quality varies by language and is provided on an "as-is" basis.
3. API Keys & Access
- API keys are personal to the registered email address and must not be shared publicly.
- You are responsible for all usage under your API key.
- We reserve the right to revoke keys that violate these terms or exhibit abusive patterns.
4. Usage Limits & Billing
- Free tier: 10,000 characters/day, 100 requests/day. No payment required.
- Paid tiers: billed monthly via Paystack. Prices listed at /v1/pricing.
- Exceeding your tier's limits returns HTTP 429. No overage charges.
- We may adjust tier limits with 30 days' notice.
5. Data & Privacy
- Source text is never stored. Text submitted for translation is processed in memory and discarded after the response is sent.
- We log: request counts, character counts, target languages, latency, and error rates — per API key, per day. No text content is logged.
- Correction pairs (submitted via the correction endpoint) are stored to improve model quality. They contain only model output and human corrections — never the original source text.
- You may request deletion of all your data at any time by emailing support@thexi.dev.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to:
- Use the API to generate spam, phishing content, or malware
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, extract, or replicate the translation models
- Exceed rate limits through circumvention (multiple keys, rotating IPs)
- Submit content that is illegal under Kenyan or international law
7. Disclaimers
- Translation quality is not guaranteed. Do not use machine translation as the sole basis for medical, legal, or safety-critical decisions.
- The Service may experience downtime for maintenance. We target but do not guarantee 99.9% uptime.
- Beta languages (marked as such in the API) have lower quality and may be removed.
8. Intellectual Property
You retain ownership of all text you submit. We retain ownership of the translation models, API infrastructure, and correction-derived improvements. Translations produced by the API may be used freely by you without attribution.
9. Termination
Either party may terminate at any time. You: by deleting your API key or emailing support. Us: by revoking your key with notice (except in cases of abuse, which may be immediate). Paid plans are refunded pro-rata for unused periods.
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated via the email associated with your API key at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Disputes shall be resolved through arbitration in Nairobi.
